Descripción
Cryptocoryne undulata is a perennial aquatic plant in the Araceae family, native to central Sri Lanka. It forms rosettes of elongated leaves with undulating margins; depending on the form and growing conditions, the foliage may display green, brown, reddish or lightly mottled tones.
It is a hardy cryptocoryne suitable for beginners and is particularly useful in the aquarium midground. It tolerates low or moderate lighting and does not require injected CO₂. Growth improves with a nutrient-containing substrate or root fertilisation and stable water conditions.
After transport, replanting or a sudden change in water parameters, it may lose some or all of its leaves, a response commonly known as “crypt melt”. If the rhizome and roots remain firm, do not remove the entire plant: discard only the damaged leaves and maintain stable conditions while it develops new growth.
